I. Mark Architectural Lighting
Mark Architectural Lighting was founded in 1965 in New Jersey. What started out as a small company that provided lighting products and developed lighting technology soon grew to be a leading authority in the lighting industry and a preferred provider of specification-grade recessed lighting.

In 2007, Acuity Brands, the leading maker and marketer of lighting products in North America, acquired Mark Architectural Lighting. Mark Lighting joined the esteemed Acuity Brands family of companies that included Lithonia, Peerless, and Gotham to name a few. For Acuity Brands Lighting, the acquisition was part of a strategy to enhance its service to the architectural community, particularly in New York City. For Mark Architectural Lighting, joining the Acuity Brands family opened up new lighting resources and brought fresh opportunities for expansion.

Mark Architectural Lighting maintains an environment that is consistently dedicated to customer satisfaction and in providing effective lighting solutions to custom lighting needs. II. Custom Lighting
Mark Architectural Lighting is driven to provide lighting solutions that fit every individual client’s specifications and needs. Mark Lighting’s development team works closely with specifiers in working on design concepts to designing solutions. Mark Architectural Lighting goes so far as to modify existing products to meet a project’s specifications.

Mark Architectural Lighting willingness to modify to provide custom lighting to their customers as well as the speed in which modifications are made goes far in building relationships and trust with architects, engineers, and designers. The company has design engineers who are experienced in prototyping and with the manufacturing process who can work closely with clients to ensure that their individual lighting needs are met.

III. Products
Mark Architectural Lighting offers a wide array of lighting products for every custom lighting need. These products range from fluorescent lighting to breakthrough LED lighting technology that fit admirably in most commercial interiors and architectural lighting environments.

Recessed Grids
Recessed lighting or downlights offers a streamlined look to any space. It can provide illumination to a room and also highlight a point of focus in an area. In the form of recessed grids, recessed lighting can add light to a broad area of the room while maintaining its streamlined design.

Mark Architectural Lighting offers a large variety of recessed grids. Some examples are:

Aurora
The Aurora Recessed Grid can come as perforated or lensed and with direct or indirect illumination. It comes with a concave reflector that gives Aurora the illusion of being a skylight. The Aurora provides soft and uniform illumination. The Aurora will fit well in a business environment, but can also be incorporated in a wide range of architectural environments.

Whisper 3D
The Whisper 3D is also a recessed grid that comes with a center accent panel with customizable colors and offers direct illumination. It features the signature sloping lines and angles of the Whisper recessed grid series but is set apart by the center accent panel with colors that can be modified to match the design and style of the rest of the space that it will illuminate.

Recessed Linear
Recessed linear lighting provides a more direct form of illumination. Recessed linear lighting products come in a variety of configurations and designs to suit a wide range of architectural environments. Lamps for recessed linear lighting also vary, with fluorescent lighting and LED lighting as the choices.

BiFocal
The BiFocal recessed linear lighting comes with general and accent illumination and is 6 inches wide. It is able to provide general lighting as well as an adjustable point-source lighting in one luminaire. MR16 lamps are incorporated to provide soft accent downlighting while a T5, a T8 or a T5H0 will provide general illumination. The MR16 lamps are also available in metal halide for a more energy efficient option.

Slot 2 LED
The Slot 2 LED offers direct illumination and combines the styling of the Slot 2 series with the energy efficiency and superior lumen output of a LED or a light emitting diode. This combination allows for a perfect balance between visual appeal and energy efficiency as well as lighting effectiveness. While standard lengths offered for the Slot 2 LED range from two to eight feet, custom lengths and configurations are also available.

Perimeter Systems

Perimeter Plus
The Perimeter Plus is a recessed lighting product that is ideal for lighting corridors and other long or extended places, with its 40 feet of seamless reflector. The Perimeter Plus makes use of T8, T5, or T5H0 lamps to eliminate socket shadowing. These lamps also provide efficient lighting for only eight watts per perimeter foot, making it energy efficient. The Perimeter Plus allows for easy installation and comes with a standard telescoping housing and lamp trays.

SP LED
The SP LED is another perimeter system lighting product that is recessed or semi-recessed. It provides a perimeter wallwash in the stylish designs of the SP series combined with the energy efficient attributes of LED lighting or light emitting diodes. The SP LED offers uniform lighting on wall surfaces and is available in a variety of foot sections, with corners also available.

Videoconference
Mark Architectural Lighting also offers lighting that is ideal for spaces that will often be used for videoconferencing. These lighting products are designed to provide outstanding illumination with reduced glare and shadowing.

Multitask
The Multitask is a recessed lighting solution that offers a combination of both general and videoconferencing illumination. It has excellent glare control and reduces shadowing to create an ideal lighting setup for videoconferencing. The Multitask features a perforated basket with a soft acrylic overlay that easily swings down to allow accessibility for relamping and other maintenance tasks.

VC2C
The VC2C is a recessed lighting solution that highly specializes in spaces designed for videoconferencing purposes. It makes use of an advanced reflector system that provides superior illumination with advanced glare control and minimal shadowing. It is also able to provide contrast-free illumination. The VC2C comes in matte black housing and with a choice of T5, T8, or T5H0 lamps.

Specialty

Duets
The Duets is a specialty lighting product that is designed to be durable and easy to maintain. It features a one piece housing with integral louver, and it is wall mounted and provides indirect and direct illumination. The housing or baffles for the Duets can be easily lifted for relamping and maintenance. Also, its compact design adheres to the ADA or the Americans with Disabilities Act.

NYC Exclusive
A select number of Mark Architectural Lighting is only released for the New York City area. If these products are required for areas outside of New York City, the factory will have to be contacted.

CVG
The CVG is recessed, features an open cove, and provides direct illumination. The CVG has a shallow profile making it ideal for most cove installations. It is designed to provide optimal ceiling illumination while the lamp shield redirects the light away from wall surfaces. The CVG comes in a number of lamp lengths and choices.

Eclipse
The Eclipse is a pendant type lighting fixture. It is capable of providing indirect and direct illumination as well as ambient illumination. It features a curved modern design that gives it a shallow, floating appearance. Steel connectors ensure that the Eclipse remains straight and consistent as well as stable. A wall mount version is also available.

Mark Product Used: Slice
The Slice is a recessed grid that is triangular in shape to add creativity to functionality. It is capable of providing direct illumination. The Mark Lighting Slices can be arranged in a row or grouped in a variety of patterns. It has also been designed to fit into the most common ceiling grids.

When considering the expansion of its facilities, Walsh College was determined to have the latest additions of campus buildings to be environmentally friendly and of sustainable design. Walsh College was also interested in acquiring a LEED certification. They opted for Mark Architectural Lighting products for their lighting, as Mark Lighting is dedicated to green lighting and sustainable design as all Acuity Brands are.

Mansueto Ventures

Mark Product Used: Custom Luminaires
Mark Architectural Lighting luminaires are available with fluorescent lamps and LED lamps. They are also easily installed as they are designed to fit standard fixtures.

Mansueto Ventures wanted a fresh look for its new location at the newly built 7 World Trade Center Building to go with the fresh image for the two magazines being established there. With custom luminaires to fit the spaces’ function and lighting needs, a modern look with a high visual performance level was achieved.

Mark Product Used: Slot 4
The Slot 4 is a recessed linear lighting and is able to provide direct illumination. It features a standard four inch width. The Slot 4 can come with either a halogen or metal halide MR16 downlight component. It is capable of both point source lighting and general illumination. It also features a regressed lens option which adds dimension to its sleek, linear design. Slot 4 is a lighting solution that would be great for adding to a streamlined room design while also providing efficient and effective lighting for a visually ideal environment.

The project was to create a clean and uncluttered design for 555 Mission Street tower’s top floor to reflect the tower’s streamlined all-glass design. With its goal of creating an unpretentious and quiet environment, Slot 4′s sleek lines and linear design was considered ideal especially when matched with its efficient and functional lighting.

V. LED Lighting
LEDs or light emitting diodes are currently on the rise in the commercial markets for lighting, and there seems to be no end in sight. LED lighting is fast becoming the future of the lighting industry, what with its superior lumen output and its minimal energy consumption. LEDs also do not emit as much heat as its lighting contemporaries.

For sustainable design, LED lighting is the best choice. LEDs don’t contain any toxic materials like mercury and has minimal emissions of carbon dioxide. The lifespan of a LED is also significantly longer. A LED lamp is capable of lasting for eleven years when in full use, which would be twenty-two years with 50% usage. This cuts down on lamp replacement and disposal, which also cuts down on maintenance cost.

LEDs are also leading the lighting race with its low energy consumption. A low energy consumption rate can translate to lower energy costs. Thus, more and more companies and commercial building are opting to go green and go LED for the significant ROI and savings that it offers.

Mark Architectural Lighting sees the potential of LEDs and is continuously working on developing designs and conceptualizing possible uses that are commercially tenable. Already there are LEDs in Mark Architectural Lighting’s product line up.

Slot 2 LED
Slot 2 LED is a recessed lighting that is capable of direct illumination. It features a nominal width of two inches and a LED lamp. The Slot 2 LED is a balanced combination of the Slot 2 series’ creative and sleek design with the LED’s energy saving capacity and sustainability. It is a perfect choice when aesthetic appeal, effective lighting, and energy savings is desired.

SP LED
The SP LED can be in the form of recessed or semi-recessed. It provides perimeter wall wash and features a LED. The SP LED combines provides an excellent balance of efficiency and functionality. The SP LED offers uniform lighting on wall surfaces while also remaining cost effective through LED’s energy saving capacity.
