Vintage ‘Guiness is Good For You’ signs in pubs: illegal?
I have noticed a few pubs have antique adverts up (y’know them metal plate things) with the ‘Guiness is Good For You’ slogan. I’m pretty sure they couldn’t use that slogan nowadays, cos it’s, well, not really that good for you.
So… is it legal for pubs to have these signs given that they’re memorabilia of sorts, or could you accuse them of false advertising?
Thanks for answers so far. As the link Willis Jeffords posted shows, it *has* been deemed illegal for Guinness to use this slogan in current advertising. What do people think about the issue of them being antique signs?
Guiness IS good for you in a way. It is yummy, it makes you feel good, and it’s fun to drink with friends. And friends are a very important part of life.
